to japan!

I have some exciting news. Tomorrow I am leaving for Japan! I'm particularly excited to eat sushi, soak in onsen and learn about Japanese flower-arranging. (Secretly, I'm pretending I'm Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation... as one does.) Plus, of course I'm very much looking forward to the perks of travel, like airports and great discovery. In the meantime, I have a few posts scheduled, but expect less frequency until my return...

camping
It's been way too long! I crave a campfire, a canoe, stars above and warm bodies surrounding me. I've found myself daydreaming about plaid shirts and good fleeces and tents and canteens. Last week, my friend Liz recommended SierraTradingPost.com for overstocks on outdoor gear, which is hugely tempting considering the outrageous prices often attached to decent gear. I've visited it a few times, but I still have some adventures to save up for in the meantime...
Also, this gypsy tent is not enough and a little too much all at once, don't you think? I want to replicate it in my yard. And I could do that without overstock discounts!
